Finishing up my pico neo single driver speakers, 4 litre bass reflex boxes that're supposed to squeeze a decent amount of bass out of a small driver. I'm obsessing over finishes at this point. The veneer on the baffels is fine I guess, though one of the sheets cracked as I was working on it and gave me some grief. Tried out some grey acrylic spray paint after I had primed them, but I wasn't satisfied with neither the adhesion or the look. Went with vinyl wrapping instead, and I'm not feeling it. One of them got a scuff mark in the back and this vinyl turned out to be a fingerprint magnet. Sigh. Guess I'll just finish them as they are now, put the drivers in and see if the sound good, and do a refinish later. #diyaudio #speakers #speakersbox #audiogear

My grandfather recently gave me his turntable. It's a Sansui FR-D35. Automatic direct drive. And a Sansui cart with a SC-50 elliptical stylus! Works perfectly, just needed a deep clean. And after testing it, I think it sounds _better_ than my Audio-Technica AT-LP120X turntable! So I'm going to try using it for a while.

I'm downsizing! I'm selling off a whole lot of stuff to clear up some space. A lot of music studio gear but also other stuff like household, computer items and some tools. Most are well taken care of and in like new condition.

Here are some pics of the items I'm selling. My full store is at sanjuanbusiness.com/things/

Please buy, reply or message me if you're interested. Most items can be shipped.

Appreciates boosts as well! Thank you!

Testing machines I cleaned and serviced last week

During test recordings, I made something cool on accident, might share it later. Recording music at high speed, then human speech one track at a time over it in normal speed gave unexpectedly #avantgarde results that worked out perfectly. I didn't know what was already on the tape at all, oops! Haha

I picked up a second set of Yamaha HP-2 orthodynamic headphones from the ebay... interestingly, this new set has circular holes in the driver vs my older (and I guess less common) square holes.

Unfortunately, while taking the new set apart for cleaning/felt replacement, I discovered the driver has a gnarly crack down the middle. I guess I won't be able to give them a true comparison listen after all. :(

Has anyone out there found a decent receiver to do whole room audio from a computer.
I have a 25x20 area that has a wall that goes down the middle and stops 3/4th of the way down so I want to put like 6 speakers around the entire building so my audio can be everywhere in the room, bonus points if I can set up channels and map audio between the two sides.

Today's Random Discogs Recommendation:
Mike Oldfield – Five Miles Out
Virgin – VL 2237
Vinyl, LP, Album, Gatefold
Canada - 1982

My second copy of this release (cheap with another purchase) -- and the best quality, nary a pop, hiss, click, or scratch.

Wider shot of the listening nook. New (to me) speakers from a recent garage sale find. Not a deal but a fair price.

Canadian dB Plus -- a reasonably good line from a reputable maker - API (Audio Products International) in the 1980s. API was a Canadian company that was also known for other prominent speaker brands such as Energy, Mirage, and Athena.

I got this pair (the 440s) and a pair of massive 1212s. All need refoaming (new surrounds).

But I couldn't resist giving them a listen.

Yeah, right now they sound 'OK'. Bass is mostly nonexistant, but after refoaming, I expect that'll be fixed.

Another Project!!
