Yag Fox<p>Digging around the house for some speakers to go with the Aiwa 22 system. Found a pair of these with the weird dipole tweeters. Not bad, not much low end, but very clear vocals and wide, wide spread from the <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/linaeum" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>linaeum</span></a> tweeters. Certainly unusual! <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/vintagehifi" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>vintagehifi</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/vintagespeakers" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>vintagespeakers</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/radioshack" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>radioshack</span></a></p>
bgrier 🇨🇦 🍁<p>Update and final thoughts - Refoaming dbPlus 440 Speaker Surrounds<br>1. Initial Condition</p><p>The dbPlus 440 speakers were in poor condition before the refoaming process. The foam surrounds were cracked, crumbling, and in some areas, entirely missing. The cabinets, while aged, remained structurally sound and only required minor dusting. Notably, extra screw holes were found on the driver mounts, indicating that the drivers had been remounted at some point. Since both speakers were a matched set, it is unclear whether the drivers were replaced during manufacturing or in a later repair. <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/VintageSpeakers" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>VintageSpeakers</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/AudioRestoration" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>AudioRestoration</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/DIYAudio" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>DIYAudio</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/Audiophile" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Audiophile</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/3dPrinting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>3dPrinting</span></a> [1/5]</p>

bgrier 🇨🇦 🍁<p>Today's Random Discogs Recommendation:<br>Mike Oldfield – Five Miles Out<br>Virgin – VL 2237<br>Vinyl, LP, Album, Gatefold<br>Canada - 1982</p><p>My second copy of this release (cheap with another purchase) -- and the best quality, nary a pop, hiss, click, or scratch.</p><p>Wider shot of the listening nook. New (to me) speakers from a recent garage sale find. Not a deal but a fair price. </p><p>Canadian dB Plus -- a reasonably good line from a reputable maker - API (Audio Products International) in the 1980s. API was a Canadian company that was also known for other prominent speaker brands such as Energy, Mirage, and Athena.</p><p>I got this pair (the 440s) and a pair of massive 1212s. All need refoaming (new surrounds). </p><p>But I couldn't resist giving them a listen.</p><p>Yeah, right now they sound 'OK'. Bass is mostly nonexistant, but after refoaming, I expect that'll be fixed.</p><p>Another Project!!</p><p><a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/VintageAudio" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>VintageAudio</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/Music" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Music</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/Vinyl" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Vinyl</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/Speakers" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Speakers</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/Audiophile" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Audiophile</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/VinylRecords" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>VinylRecords</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/Turntable" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Turntable</span></a><br><a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/VintageSpeakers" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>VintageSpeakers</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/AudioGear" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>AudioGear</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/NowPlaying" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>NowPlaying</span></a></p>
