IKEA has done a pretty decent job the last few years building out a rather impressive smart home product line.
I picked up a few of their early bulbs years ago and was moderately happy with the state of things. I ultimately passed on expanding my usage since HomeKit integration was spotty and the original home hub needed a hard reboot ~ monthly to keep playing nice.
A friend who was just beginning their smart home exploration (and wasn’t already deeply tied to HomeKit) happily benefited from my decision.
But IKEA has a world-class design team and the products they’ve rolled out since make me a bit envious.
From floor lamps and mounted wall art with speakers built in to side tables with an air purifier discreetly built in, they’ve done a good job getting multifunctional products out, and at competitive prices. Their basic bulbs and control buttons/switches are some of the most affordable I’ve seen (in the $10-$25).
