The new #Honda #Prelude prototype is super intriguing. It’s a gasoline-electric hybrid, but the engine is (mostly) disconnected from the drive wheels, with only a single mode in which it’s driving the wheels through a single-ratio drive. Most of the time, the engine charges the batteries, which in turn drive the wheels using motors.
But it has a new drive mode that Honda calls “S+ Shift” which *simulates* an 8-speed gearbox. Your actions drive the electric motors, but the car manages the engine’s RPMs so you *think* you’re driving a conventional DCT, complete with torque dips between gear shifts and “enhanced” engine sounds.
From the video, the simulation looks and sounds super real, probably because the engine is actually revving at the expected speed.
I need to test drive this thing!

OMG someone is selling a Suzuki X-90, probably one of the worst cars ever sold in the US, and certainly the worst car from the 1990s.
