@bsletten@mastodon.social I should also suggest #whoogle and #searxng as selfhosted solutions. The first one relies on google (but doesn't provide personal info to it) while the second can be configured with many search engines as backends.

Oh and of course we got bitten by the #whoogle block along with everything else. It worked out, switched the local search to SearXNG and it has been great. Didn't even need to reinstall in the browsers.

It ain't perfect but there is a Whoogle update (using the Lynx user-agent) that seems to be working for now, which means my Whoogle instance is back up.
