So that’s the game; I was curious what the ‘whole deport people to counties where they have no ties and don’t even speak the language’ was all about. Looks like it’s a legal workaround so deportees can’t oppose their removal by claiming fear of persecution in the country they’re being sent to. Ghouls.

“In an email to his lawyers seen by the BBC's US partner CBS, an immigration officer said they were changing last month's decision to send him to Uganda, after Mr Ábrego García raised fears of persecution there.”

The @dallasnews is finally breaking out the "Columbo ...just one more thing" questions for the Trump Administration.

Why deport Kilmar Abrego García if DOJ can prove he’s a gang member?

Threat of deportation to Uganda smacks of vindictiveness.

Whatever your politics, no person of good faith following this case would confuse it with justice.

"Whether persecuting Abrego Garcia, threatening Fed independence, or shredding the constitutional division between military forces and civilian law enforcement, Trump has signaled there are no limits (and scant consideration) to his dictatorial ambitions."

#AbregoGarcia on Monday filed a lawsuit challenging his current detention and any deportation to Uganda or any other country until a trial is held at an immigration court.

In a statement after his detention, Kristi Noem, the secretary of the #US #DHS, said he is being processed "for removal to Uganda."

At the core of Abrego Garcia's case is the question of due process under President #Trump's aggressive crackdown on undocumented immigrants in the US. The man was arrested in March and sent to a notorious prison in #ElSalvador despite a 2019 court order barring his #deportation to the Central American country because of the "well-founded fear" of gang persecution there. The Trump administration conceded his removal was an "administrative error" and returned him to the US in June to face criminal charges.
