There are some good third party apps listed on Mastodon's own site:
The third party apps have more features and had way more development time.
Android users might want to start with Tusky and Fedilab

Mastodon is an open platform, so third party apps can use its features fully.
The app just shows a screen to join communities and if i want to join, it swaps to the browser

Ich bin bisschen verwirrt denn mit sowas habe ich mich vorher noch nicht beschäftigt... muss ich da was anders einstellen an meinem Handy? Ich meine bevor ich mir f-droid as GoogleplayStore Alternative installieren?

Ich nutze #Android ohne #Google-Account. Schon immer.
Du solltest F-Droid aber problemlos parallel installieren können. Das vereinfacht den Bezug und die Aktualisierung von Apps aus dem F-Droid-Repository deutlich. Gibt dann auch weitere schicke Apps wie etwa #NewPipe zu entdecken. Das aber später.

Da mußt Du das für F-Droid dann entsprechend erlauben.
Und was mich angeht, vertraue ich der durchschnittlichen App im F-Droid-Katalog mehr als dem ganzen Gewumpse, was bei Google im PlayStore so herumschwirrt...

Okay, wenn der fertig ist, hast Du mit der F-Droid-App Zugriff auf den Katalog von Apps, die bei F-Droid verzeichnet sind.
Keine Registrierung notwendig... nicht mal möglich. Auch kein Tracking, also keine Download-Zahlen oder so etwas.
Über die Suchfunktion solltest Du #Tusky und #Fedilab finden. Und dann direkt via F-Droid-App installieren können.

Den Anzeigenamen kannst Du jederzeit ändern.
Deine Adresse, die auch für die technische Kommunikation genutzt wird, ist naturgemäß nicht so einfach zu ändern.
@nick @fenriswitch Un wo kamm ich es ändern, ich würde nähmlich echt gern "@offiicialdjbron3" sein, ich wurde schon öfter vom namen kopiert.
Du müßtest einen neuen Account anlegen und dann ggf. die Umzugsfunktion nutzen. Da ist mit Reibungsverlusten zu rechnen.
Du kannst aber auch einen zweiten Account parallel einrichten...

@feditips I’m using Metatext and I like it so far. I’ll check out the others in the article as well.

@feditips id recommend husky over tusky, personally. its made for pleroma but ive found its much less glitchy (and ugly)

@feditips I think on iOS the PWA is actually a feasible option. It is the only one that has all the features.

@grzewap @Fragnacja using this toot as an example, do any apps include the option to translate? I’m on Metatext and can’t see any way to do it!
@Mahout @Fragnacja AFAIK translation system is in the phase of testing, maybe available in the next version. At the moment I see no better way than copying toot into some translator, - Google Translator or something like that.

Personally, after trying several Android apps I still tend to go back to using the progressive web app (PWA):
Just visit your instance on your phone and, once you're logged in, you should see a button similar to the one in the screenshot.
Once you click it you should be able to find it on your home screen / list of apps.
@axwax that's exactly what I ended up doing and I've now deleted the app #newbie #stilllearning
