From what I read, she was not really involved w/ demonstrations and she didn’t commit any crimes. She also had a valid student visa.
Unless there is more to this story, it seems she was taken away for having an opinion, speaking up for people she felt were being harmed, and urging the university’s action as “direct stakeholders” in the university’s
stance given their financial entanglements and graduate research work.
(And WOW, what a well-written op-ed.)
