I'm back from my latest terrorist activity, i.e. supporting our postal workers at a peaceful protest outside a post office downtown.

There were a lot of postal workers in their union shirts, but also people like me who just showed up in support. We got insane amounts of honking and waving from people in traffic, even a DHL truck! All the postal service workers laughed at that, but as one of them said, "Yeah, we're all in this together."

One postal worker told me that people with seniority were being offered "buyouts" to retire-- and not only was it an insultingly small amount, just $5000 initially and $10000 in a year's time, she and I agreed they'd never see that money anyway.

I also talked to the union head, who lives in a small town near this city, and telling her that I grew up way out in the country where people's lives depend on the post office. She said Musk and Trump will be closing down offices in towns...

Mary Austin VOTED 4 HARRIS!

...like hers where the locations doesn't make any money.

We know that it's about to get really bad for people in rural locations whether they voted for this or not. She was telling me she just couldn't convince these people not to vote against their own interests, but that they would realize soon how bad it was going to get.

I told everybody there about the protests April 5 and said I'd see them at the Capitol then! They were very interested when I showed them the website.

This regime is sitting on a powder keg of public anger, and they're so arrogant they think they are untouchable. But I am seeing the passion and fear and bravery in the crowds at these protests. The public response is only building. As we connect more and more through and , and as more MAGAs realize what's happening, the protests are going to be off the chart.

@MaryAustinBooks

It's quite possible they are counting on that anger to turn violent, so that they can invoke emergency powers and complete their shutdown of democracy, killing a few and incarcerating many along the way.

@huntingdon
That may be what they think, but I don't see the US military shooting us to keep somebody in power who's destroying the VA on top of everything else.

@MaryAustinBooks

The US military are not the only armed federal agencies under the command and control of the executive branch.

@huntingdon
True, and we already saw Trump using border patrol as his Nazi brown shirts in the first term. ICE is little more than brown shirts too. But the time will come soon that even those people will have personal financial distress, or family members facing the consequences of this regime's incompetence and cruelty. And the American people are not inclined to accept martial law-- remember Portland 2020? Trump's ham fisted tactics only provoked more unrest.

Regardless, we keep protesting.

@MaryAustinBooks

I am not arguing protests should stop. Far from it. We should try to keep them nonviolent, because violence plays to their strength and their near monopoly on the use of force.

People also need to know that civil disobedience brings consequences, and they should prepare for them. The three people who allegedly burned Tesla's were photographed, left fingerprints, and bragged about it on social media. That's not a winning strategy.

@huntingdon
Oh Lord, I couldn't agree more! I don't want any violence or even property destruction. Peaceful protests and strikes are definitely the way to go. I am just saying that MAGA is an explicitly violent, heavily armed movement and a lot of those people are about to be left with nothing to lose. I *hope* this situation can be resolved nonviolently! But I greatly fear there will be violence. I meant I'll just keep on keeping on, not engaging in any violence but not fearing to face it.

@MaryAustinBooks

Consider their typical M.O.

"Because that's what I would do"

They think liberals will revolt, because that's what they would do (and did)
