2 Winter Seasonal 2025 Disappointments

Yup the winter seasonal shows are coming to an end. As usual, I become frumpy and grumpy as to which two shows disappointed me for the winter season of 2025.

So, what are the two shows that disappointed me this time around.

Zenshu

Studio: Mappa

Episodes: 12

Despite me enjoying the series, I can’t help but feel underwhelmed by it. I did a first impression, whilst it showed promise, at first. As it went on, the characters aren’t gelling. The potential love chemistry between Natsuko and Luke is very dry, overall characters development in general is very lacklustre. Animation is top notch.

Unnamed Memory S2

Studio: Engi

Episodes: 12

I’ll keep this short. Which will be unusual for me. I’m very disappointed in unnamed memory S2. Engi didn’t improve, I’ve become uninterested in the series, however, will continue out of stubbornness and just to get it over and done with. God damn it Engi!

There you have it, those are my 2 disappointing shows for the winter season. You can also read last year’s winter disappointments

2 Winter Seasonal 2024 Disappointments

So, which 2 shows disappointed you for this winter season? throw down in the comment section, I’ll catch you on the next post!

That anime shows I’ve watched more than 5 times

Daily writing prompt What movies or TV series have you watched more than 5 times? View all responses

I’ve answered a prompt asking this before, so I don’t really mind mentioning it again here. However, recently a new addition has been added.

The animes I’ve watched more than 5 times are..

Yugioh Duel Monsters

yup the character that set off the meme of “it’s time to d-d-d-d-d-d-duel” – I really can’t get enough of enjoying that series, despite how bad the dub of the series is

That’s right it’s time to d-d-d-d-duel

The other series I’ve watched more than 5 times is actually a very short series, it’s literally 2 mins an episode

and this tv show is …

Wakako Zake

it’s about Wakako going around these eateries and trying out the food. The stars of the show as you rightly guessed is in fact the food. What this series is known for is the “Pshuuu” she makes when she enjoys the food

Madan no Ou to Vanadis Episode 3

War! The battle for Alsace is over for now. The enemy forces have retreated and are now re-grouping with the main force for a last ditch counter attack. With only 900 to take to the enemy, whilst still being outnumbered by 2,700. Zion not wanting to be bested by Tigre, had his men organised in to formation. With two dragons in the middle of the formation, any of Elens forces will be no match for it. Meanwhile during a strategy meeting involving Elen, Lim, Tigre, Bertrand and Rurick. Titta drops in and thinks Elen and Tigre are romantically involved. Lim had an idea which involves rope. It isn’t revealed at first. Tigre then had an idea of his own, involving some spare horses. Whilst being around Alsace, Lim gets to observe the town and notices that the people respect and show devotion to Tigre. This in her mind, puts her at ease. As she had shown some concern in Elens choice. With the plan in place. Tigre, Elen and her men are out on the battlefield, waiting to confront Zion and his men.

Reign of the seven spell blades Episode 1: HP the anime

The counterattack is on. Elen and Tigre lead the charge against Zion’ forces. As they engage with the enemy force. Elen seems to enjoy being on the battlefield. Suddenly Tigre, Elen and her forces are faced with dealing with the land dragon. The enemy has them surrounded, so they are forced into the path of the dragon. With no escape at all. Elen’ forces are no match for the dragon. Even Tigre with his archery skills, has a tough time.

The land dragon’s skin is too tough to break through. When Lim and her force has come to break up one the flanks that is surrounding Elen and Tigre. this gave Elen a chance to deal with the dragon herself. For the first time, she uses one of her dragon art skills. She calls it Ley Admos. It tears the land dragon apart with ease. Zion is now on the second dragon. And making his retreat. With the promise of coming back with more men. Tigre has to make a decision. When he hears a voice instructing him to shoot the dragon. The voice is coming from his black bow. When both Tigre bow and Elen’ Arifar start to resonant with each other. Helping Tigre arrow land a devastating hit and killing Zion. Thenardier forces surrender.

Points of interest

  • The use of 2 dragons was the first in the series.
  • The black bow communicates with Tigre.
  • Lim begins to respect Tigre – before she had doubts on him as a person.
  • Tigre uses his cunning to best a larger force. This will be shown through out the series.
  • Elen uses her dragon art for the first time.

This episode was an interesting one, as it put Tigre on the spot. As in the point of interest stated, Tigre use his cunning to best a much larger army. Despite him being inexperienced. But we steadily see that he is growing as a character. The family heirloom was also a noteworthy point. Just how did his family obtain it? And how come it is sentient? Is it similar to the vanadis weapons? What is the black bow called. These aren’t answered in the episode. As it focuses more on the invading army. We get to see the tactical side of Elen. She didn’t get to where she is, by just swinging a sword. Lim took a spot too. Her observation on the townsfolk and their opinion on the young lord, seemed to have mattered to her. And they sung nothing but high praises for him. Which eased her tensions with him (a bit).

Which 2 2024 anime autumn shows disappointed me and Myska

Well now that Autumn season has come to a close and with winter seasonal shows around the corner (as of writing this post), it’s the usual which 2 shows disappointed me this time around. And there is a special surprise too, I’m glad to be collaborating with Myska from Myska reviews!!

Give the lovely Myska a follow on her blog, she does some really great reviews, if you’re into anime or K-drama, she got other posts to give a gander at too!!

Myska is my first commentator as well, and has always supported me, so I’m honoured that she is joining me on this one.

Myska’s Disappointments

These are the two shows that disappointed her for the Autumn showing

Kimi wa Meido-sama (You are Ms servant)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i0Vu4OG4ULs

Kimi wa Meido-sama tries to juggle many elements—action, romance, comedy, and drama—without giving any of them the depth they deserve. The lack of humor, the unexplored past of Xue, and the abrupt shift in focus to Hitoyoshi’s family issues in the later episodes make the narrative feel disjointed.

The series had the potential to craft a gripping story around Yuki’s transition from assassin to maid and her struggle to reconcile her past and present. Instead, it falls into a predictable romance with underwhelming characters and unresolved plotlines.

Dandadan

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0XJxfbN36Uw

Dandadan failed to live up to its potential for me. While there was a brief glimmer of hope in episode 7, which felt like a different show entirely, the constant barrage of uncomfortable and childish humor and lack of meaningful character development made it hard to stay invested. Last but not least, the loud, chaotic energy is fun at first, but after a while, it becomes exhausting. Dandadan seems more interested in shock value than in creating a well-rounded, enjoyable experience.

Bloopy’s Disappointments

Okay, so now it’s my turn to give dish out the disappointments for the autumn showing

The Most Notorious “Talker” Runs the World’s Greatest Clan

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dpr9LCQsETM

I did a first impression on notorious talker. After 6 episodes this was dropped. I really couldn’t get into the series. The main character Noel was trying to be this cool, anti-hero edge lord. Anyone who wronged him, ended up on the wrong side of his wrath. Whilst I get it, that anyone who wrongs you, should receive payback of some kind. Noel is basically a support, that can’t do any offence, so was taught by his legendary grandfather, since the class Noel is, is very squishy.

The plot I found it boring; the pacing matched the story being told. The only real thing that kept me remotely interested in the series, is the tanned, yandere, heterochromatic eye beauty Alma. Even that really couldn’t save it from being dropped.

365 days to the wedding

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BV3DvCODx64

I’ve done both a first impression and a mini review on this series. This disappointed me in a way, that you could see the ending 500 mile off even before it aired. The lie was held up – even if it was played safe. What really didn’t make that interesting is just how often the two main leads were bumbling around, trying to find out how they felt for each other – with little chemistry. The last two episodes were really rushed, with the deus ex machina of who goes to Anchorage. Nor how the “black mailer” knew they were lying in the first place.

And there you have it, my first collab with another guest blogger! hope you enjoyed reading two grumpy bloggers whinging about which shows disappointed us. And do make sure to check out and even follow Myska’s blog!

Predictable and not up to expectation: 365 days to the wedding

Been a while since a mini review was written up. 365 days is your very typical adult cast rom-com / slice of life series. Whilst it had a very good premises, the actual showing of it didn’t really live up to my expectation. What it made it predictable is you can see how it will end from like 500 miles away.

Over at Mastodon I gave the series a C+, however after reviewing the entire series, I’ve changed it to reflect the final grading of the mini review.

Overall, it isn’t a bad series, it isn’t the best either. There are other series that could appeal to you more.

Studio: Ashi Productions
Season: Autumn
Episode: 12

First impression Previous Mini review

Positives:

Kama being the head of the house, a stray cat taken in by Takuya

Side characters got some love like Gonda got an episode special to him in wanting to get into a relationship with someone

Rika and Takuya slowly coming out of their awkward shells was amusing and nice to watch

The two maintaining the lie was probably the best thing in the show

OP is just meh, sweet and all just found it meh

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lHgNspEAXhQ

Animation is okay I thought

Pacing is alright, well maybe towards the end

Negatives:

Predictable, you can see them falling for each other from 500 miles away

Not enough were spent of the side characters as they featured a fair few time

Rika and Takuya’s chemistry for each other sadly felt it wasn’t there, which can make it a slog to get through

Not really sure why Rika and Takuya became socially introverted. Rika backstory makes sense, as her mother left her alone most of the time. Takuya’s didn’t, he was more socially extroverted as a child

Childhood friend and potential “love rival” Nao went nowhere

The blackmailer went nowhere as well, how did the person work out they were lying about the marriage is left unanswered

Deus ex machina of solving who goes to Anchorage

Played it safe, no audacious lies upon lies to maintain the lie

The ending was just rushed

Grade:
