The Power of Metadata – HMC at Girls Day 2025 👭 📝

Our #HMC colleagues from Hub Matter at @hzbde hosted their first metadata-themed workshop for Girls Day at #HZB!

They introduced Data & Information Science to 11 curious girls from Berlin and played a fun, newly developed metadata game. 😊

Big thanks to our brave participants for exploring this exciting field with us – we had a blast! 💙

Looking forward to next year! ✨

🐵 Happy Birthday, Dr. Jane Goodall! Born on this day in 1934, Jane Goodall is an anthropologist, primatologist, and conservationist. She is considered the world's foremost expert on chimpanzees. Her work revolutionized our understanding of what it means to be human and proved that women could be successful as scientists in a world previously dominated by men. 1/2

@physgal.bsky.social I'm on the team building @surf.social, it's a social browser that pulls together conversations from Mastodon, Threads and Bluesky into one place. We'd love to test with #WomenInStem. Would you be open to trying Surf and creating a custom feed for the hashtag? Thank you!

Happy birthday to French mathematician, physicist and philosopher Marie-Sophie Germain (1776 – 1831), known as Sophie. She taught herself mathematics using books in her father’s library and by corresponding with leading mathematicians of her day, including Lagrange, Legendre and Gauss, initially using the pseudonym Monsieur LeBlanc. 🧵1/n

When I say I love learning, I mean it. From neuroscience to cuneiform, my autistic brain thrives on deep dives into complex subjects. That's why I’m currently taking "Rocket Science for Everyone" at Yale University via Coursera.

Here are six fascinating facts I learned about orbital mechanics—yes, the physics that keeps satellites in space! 🌍✨
