2021:
Five years after mocking India's colonial past, #Marc #Andreesen, one of Silicon Valley’s foremost venture capitalists and a member of Facebook’s board, now wants to make money off India’s fancy for cryptos.

Andreesen’s venture, #a16z [founded in 2009 by Marc Andreessen and Ben Horowitz], along with Coinbase Ventures, has invested $260 million in Series C round of CoinSwitch Kuber, the four-year-old Indian start-up which is an aggregator of crypto exchanges.

Existing investors Paradigm, Ribbit Capital, Sequoia Capital and Tiger Global have also participated in the round.

Following the massive fund infusion, CoinSwitch has become the country’s second crypto Unicorn, valued at $1.9 billion, after CoinDCX hit $1.1 billion after a $90 million Series C round in August.

Fortune India · India-baiter Andreesen back to tap crypto boom’By V. Keshavdev

As a heritage resident of #SiliconValley, I find that #Andreesen has a shockingly shallow & revisionist history of this region, plus a lot of disingenuousness. An absurd podcast interview with lots of dark holes & misappropriation. #RossDouthat #Opinion #NYTimes

The New York Times · Opinion | How Democrats Drove Silicon Valley Into Trump’s ArmsBy Ross Douthat

Watched some of Andreessen on Rogan's show for my sins, and the lack of self awareness is deafening.

They're all like "woohoo, Trump won, we are saved from Woke and regulation and now everything will be great"

And then moments later "God, imagine all those people in Germany when Hitler was elected, do you think they knew what was to come, do you think they celebrated? They must have been so dumb"

🤦

I wonder at what point they will realize, or if they'll still be celebrating even as the camps get filled with unpeople and the body counts starts to ratchet up.

VC Ben #Horowitz donates to #HarrisWalz campaign

Reading between the lines, it is clear that they are only doing it grudgingly, and only after the realization that #KamalaHarris is likely to win #Election2024 — So, why not build bridges instead of burning them down like Marc #Andreesen did by endorsing #Trump?

The #AndreesenHorowitz partner makes an implicit threat to #Harris#Biden has been destructive to us, and you better DO BETTER on #Crypto 👀

Over the years, #a16z has invested in several well-known companies like Airbnb, Coinbase, Instacart, Lyft, and Slack, among many others.

The firm’s founders #Marc #Andreesen and #Ben #Horowitz have recently said that they are supporting #Donald #Trump in the upcoming presidential elections.

So it comes as little surprise that they stiff the cybersecurity researcher
( @xyz3va ) that saved their bacon

My previous post introduced #Balaji #Srinivasan (let's call him B.S. for short),

the main brain behind the #Network #State cult of tech billionaires trying to reinvent government and media.

B.S., a former partner at #Andreesen-#Horowitz and former chief technology officer of #Coinbase, wrote an entire book called
"The Network State: How to Start a New Country."

Tech oligarchs like Marc Andreesen hold him in high regard and consider him some kind of genius oracle.

His book outlines how tech billionaires can seize more economic and political power by establishing new sovereign territories under their control.

#Garry #Tan, the CEO of #YCombinator currently leading a campaign to take control of San Francisco Hall,
has cast his efforts as part of B.S.'s Network State movement.

He did this during a conversation with B.S. at the first ever Network State #conference last October.

Two years earlier, Tan wrote on Twitter that Y Combinator was a "prototype" for the Network State idea.

So what would it mean for San Francisco to be taken over by tech #zillionaires who belong to the Network State cult?

Well, B.S. is the kind of guy who likes to run his mouth on four-hour-long podcasts hosted by sycophantic fanboys.

And he has a LOT to say about what the Network State will mean for S.F.

Buckle up!

I should note that the process #QElon used on his employees to winnow them down to a core slavish cult, is the same one he’s inflicting on his users.

He knows he’s not going to capture the libs anyway, so he’s having his buddy Marc #Andreesen try to capture the leftist refugees at Post.news.

If you stay, you will be constantly tested to see if you bend the knee. Failure will result in abuse and exile.

I noticed via Taylor Lorenz that Marc #Andreesen is backing Post. I can’t find any articles to back that up. Some oldsters have fond memories because of NCSA #Mosaic, but Andreesen hasn’t done much that has been great for the Internet. While #Netscape was the best browser of the period, remember that the competition wasn’t that great at the time. Andreesen has constantly made money by figuring out how to close things off and track you.
