🇪🇺 Hungary is out, the EU moves forward. European leaders no longer wait for Orbán’s approval on Ukraine. The latest EU statement will be issued by 26 nations—Hungary isolated. Diplomats say if Orbán wants to go it alone, no one will stop him.

POLITICO · Europe’s new unanimity: Orbán doesn’t need to agreeBy Gabriel Gavin

@noelreports The so called #EU is a travesty. Why don’t they just chuck Hungary out? They claim to be #Europe. #EU is not even half of Europe.

@arosano @noelreports

  1. The #EU does not claim to be #Europe, they claim to be the European Union which is clearly a difference.
  2. The EU-Rules does not contain a way to throw out a country, only the country itself can decide to leave. {Unlike, for example, as the Council of Europe, which has thrown out russia}
    This may be seen as a mistake - afterwards anyone knows better - but it may also be seen as an assurance that a a individual little country is not susceptible to blackmail if it's views differ.

But yes, the case of Hungary shows that the EU needs to make changes to its rules in order to deal effectively with traitors to the system.

@player @noelreports 1. All politicians in all member states invariably say #Europe when they refer to the #eu.
2. Any organization whose bylaws allow one member to stall proceedings needs to revise its rules.

There is Article 7. However, certain members seem to be preferring to form coalitions in order to workaround/exclude Orban. It seems to be working.
