FediTips has moved!

📣 I'm moving the FediTips account to another server.

The new address to follow is:

➡️ @FediTips@social.growyourown.services

I'm just about to start the automatic migration procedure, so it should move your follow over to the new account seamlessly, but if you want to follow the new account manually straight away you can do so (it won't mess anything up).

The new server is my own one, it's where FediFollows, FediVideo etc are already.

If there are any problems, contact my personal account at @FediThing

For people on #Friendica and other platforms not compatible with the account migration procedure, you need to follow @FediTips manually if you were following the previous FediTips account. On mobile it works like this: Long tap the blue @-address in the above sentence, wait for the popup, then click the follow icon. If the popup doesn't appear (often with new accounts), copy the @-address to search on the top of the page, including both @'s, then click Search twice with a few seconds between. You can follow on the profile page that appears, and set any groups you want the account to be in.

@gidi @FediTips

Yes, indeed! Really good point!

if you're following from a platform other than Mastodon, do a manual follow of the new account.

p.s. I've started the transfer, it may take many days for all the follows to transfer over to the new account. (This is possibly the largest Fediverse account transfer attempted so far?)

If it doesn't transfer your follow automatically just do a manual follow of the new account. And as mentioned already, follow it manually straight away if you prefer!

@Xen4n

What happens when you try clicking on it?

@FediThing trying to open through browser, but not loaded. Search acount with direct link inside mastodon client also not worked

@Xen4n

If you just click on the link in the post, what happens then?

The direct link may not work too well right now as my server is overwhelmed with moving 200k accounts, but if you click follow from within your own server's view it should go into a queue and be dealt with when the server is less busy.

@FediThing it not respond, yes. When click on it, client tries to load, but on timeout opens browser, that also cant load it)
But ok. Server realy can be busy now. Just waiting

@Xen4n

Okay, sorry about this.

I'll look at adding some more resources to the server.

Thanks for taking time to give feedback.

@FediThing no problem. The things you do deserves respect 🫡

@feditips Would the mute or block options help? I see them right here in my Mastodon client, so they look pretty easy to use.

I've been meaning to look this up, but what is the difference between mute and block anyway?

Also, how do I set up filters in the Mastodon clients?

Finally, and I'm new to Mastodon, but couldn't you just not follow people who's posting you don't like?

@Orca @feditips

Sorry to hear!

Have you tried copying the address and pasting it into the search box?

@Orca

Hmm... Have to see how it goes when the transfer has finished.

@feditips@mstdn.social @FediTips@social.growyourown.services @FediThing

Looks like auto migration worked. I was already following the new account when I went to check. Thanks for all you do!

@feditips@mstdn.social @FediTips@social.growyourown.services @FediThing Hello for those who follow the rss feeds, the modification of the url must be handled

@feditips Getting a 404 when trying to follow the new account.

@epp

It should work now, there was a freak bug on Vivaldi.net that blocked some newer accounts. The bug has since been fixed, so please follow me at @FediTips@social.growyourown.services
