If someone recommends an account to follow and it looks blank to you, it probably isn't actually blank! It probably just looks that way when you view it from your server.

If you follow the account, future posts will start showing up on your server.

It is confusing, but there are really good reasons why it happens. You can read more about it (including how to check what a profile really looks like, and how to prevent your own profile looking blank) here:

@feditips It IS confusing, and no reasons make it less confusing.

@feditips Apparently, if you want to share your photos and paintings and content with the user you know, you can not.
Therefore, you must upload all of your 50 or 200 or 2000 photos from the start again and again every time the next 2 or 3 persons subscribe to you, again and again.
This makes fediverse accounts almost useless in lots of cases. You'd better use other platform to place your content and just share a link.

It will work better if you upload gradually as you build up an audience? You only need one follower from a server to become visible to everyone on that server.

Also, everyone will still be able to browse all your posts if they go to your "original page", which you can link to from your profile:

@feditips I'd better link original page from some other service, not fediverse-related. It will have no restrictions like this.

FediTips has moved!

@nefoun_qu_jw

I've tried to write about why this happens (there are good reasons!) and what can be done about it in the article in the original post.

Sorry that I can't help further.
