FediTips has moved!

Just a heads-up, the iPhone/iPad app is no longer being maintained. The lead developer had to take a break due to health issues.

If you want a good iPhone/iPad Mastodon app, try Toot! (more info: fedi.tips/toot-for-iphone-ipad) or Ice Cubes (more info: fedi.tips/ice-cubes-for-iphone) or Ivory or one of many other nice Mastodon apps now available.

Metatext may still come back in some form, community developers are currently testing a new fork, but it's not quite ready yet.

@feditips Radiant is still early but also shaping up to be a great client

@feditips What do you recommend for Android? I'm using Tusky; are there better ones?

@jonberger

Tusky is great! I did a roundup of it at fedi.tips/tusky-for-android/ Definitely recommend it for Android.

However, everyone has different tastes and needs, you might also want to try Fedilab, Tooot (not related to Toot!), Megalodon or Subway Tooter for Android.

@jonberger Tusky is the best 3rd party Android app, IMHO.

The other ones I use are forks of the official Mastodon Android app, Megalodon and Moshidon, so while they are good, they are dependent on the official client not screwing things up too much: lucasggamerm.github.io/moshido

Moshidon has some nice extra features on top of the extra features Megalodon added, such as profile notes. It seems slightly less stable and polished than Megalodon though, and you lose the adorable prehistoric shark mascot.

@jonberger I recently swapped from Tusky to Trunks (@trunksapp ). It's sleeker and more modern. Has some kinks here and there, but nothing that stopped me from using it as my main client already.

@wemic @trunksapp Sleek and modern is always nice. I'll check it out - thanks!

@feditips Mona and Mammoth are both good options

@feditips I've landed on Iceberg, and it's been great

@feditips Mona is the most Metatext-like of the iOS apps. Very configurable and HIGHLY recommended!

@feditips Mona was my replacement for Metatext

@feditips man! :NekoDisappoint: They have THE BEST #emoji keyboard (between #Toot!, #Mastodon, and #IceCubes ) 🫤

I wish them well. 🙏🏼

@feditips Thanks for the info. May the lead developer get well soon.

@feditips Any recommendations for iOS apps that are more suited to Friendica formatting? I don’t get on with Mastodon-focused apps (and hate the bird site too).

I’m currently using Metatext for pop-up notifications, and then actually viewing the site through chrome. Clicking on the notification doesn’t work.

And GWS to the Metatext developer.

@kacey

I don't know, Friendica doesn't have dedicated apps on iOS as far as I know, so they rely on compatibility with the Mastodon API.

You could try Ice Cubes for example? That's a free open source iOS app. (I haven't tested it with Friendica though.)

@feditips Yeah, that has been the case for a while. Unfortunately no mastodon apps out there are as complete as Metatext is :(

I’ll just keep using it until the fork is released or something

@luana

The fork's name is by the way, if you want to follow the hashtag for news.
