The official #Mastodon apps have been updated
Highlights:
Official Android app now lets you edit your posts. Click ⋯ on a post and "Edit". You can also bookmark posts now.
Official iPhone / iPad app now lets you follow hashtags. To follow a hashtag, search for a hashtag and click the "Follow" button. To see your followed tags, go to your profile page and click the # icon at the top.
p.s. Couldn't fit this in character limit but official iPhone/iPad app now also supports adding a profile banner image. Just go to your profile and click "Edit Info" then click the banner.
Appreciate all your tips!
Slightly tangent issue - I saw someone post that emoji's in profile names can be problematic to screen readers for visually imparied users. "Fedi.Tips
Do we know if that's true?
Thanks!
@pixelpusher220 @feditips It's true, and not just for Mastodon. Emojis in general are less than ideal for screen readers.
There are YouTube videos that provide real examples of how emojis are read by screen readers. It can be very ugly to hear.

I have just checked on this with a blind accessibility person I know who has written a guide to using Mastodon through a screen reader.
According to them, one emoji is okay (and they even use one emoji on their username themselves).
More than one is a problem though, so it should be strictly one emoji at most.
@feditips since the one I initially added when I joined disappeared, I tried again. Hope this works. Thanks.
@feditips nice update!
@feditips what is the optimal height and width for the banner image?
