Pinch me! ESA is finally starting the reprocessing campaign of the full Sentinel-2 archive : https://sentinels.copernicus.eu/web/sentinel/-/sentinel-2-processing-baseline-05-deployment-on-06-december-1
This will mean better co-registration, atmospheric correction and cloud masks consistently across the entire time-series. Twist... they say when they start (6/12) but not yet when they will finish

@andrestumpf that is massive!
@map_andrew Absolutely! It seems ESA also signed today the contract for the new Copernicus Data Access Service where the data will be hosted in the near future : https://twitter.com/SimonettaCheli/status/1598687126438039552
@andrestumpf hang on.. that implies DIAS is stopping. https://ec.europa.eu/commission/presscorner/detail/en/IP_22_7374 'The new service will be fully operational in July 2023 after a progressive phase-in period corresponding to the phasing out of the current data distribution service, leaving time for users to migrate and familiarise themselves with the new service interfaces'
@map_andrew My understanding is that it will replace at least https://scihub.copernicus.eu/ ... doesn't necessarily mean that the initial DIAS(es, there are several) will have to shut down.
@andrestumpf that makes sense. I cannot see how multiple DIAS(es) survive long term, esp with this news.
