@andrestumpf hang on.. that implies DIAS is stopping. ec.europa.eu/commission/pressc 'The new service will be fully operational in July 2023 after a progressive phase-in period corresponding to the phasing out of the current data distribution service, leaving time for users to migrate and familiarise themselves with the new service interfaces'

@map_andrew My understanding is that it will replace at least scihub.copernicus.eu/ ... doesn't necessarily mean that the initial DIAS(es, there are several) will have to shut down.

@andrestumpf that makes sense. I cannot see how multiple DIAS(es) survive long term, esp with this news.

@map_andrew @andrestumpf
In fact, it is almost finished, the distribution starts. I heard it from the project manager on Monday.

@ohagolle @map_andrew Oh, wow, great to hear this, thank you for the info Olivier!

@ohagolle @andrestumpf is this a direct replacement, ie a user will not really know?

@map_andrew @andrestumpf I doubt they will keep both versions, but I didn't look into the details. The big question is now : will Amazon, Google, DIAS, CNES... update all their collections and how fast ? For CNES, with the current capacity of our network already well crowded, it would take years...

@ohagolle @andrestumpf great point. Must be a big cost to update those collections! I hadn't even considered that.

@map_andrew @andrestumpf Hi ! it seems I have been over optimistic, processing started in October and should be finished in first or second quarter of 2023. Sorry for the error, but it leaves more time to prepare ourselves for reprocessing
