"Doe-eyed ignorance"? I think Roberts knew exactly what the situation was and lied.
He has been hostile to the Voting Rights Act since his days in the Reagan admin.

I was struck immediately by that passage as well, and had the exact same response. He knew. It was his deal for his appointment. I have never believed that THE Constitution is at the heart of any of those appointed to that bench, with a few exceptions. #Ketanji Brown Jackson is one. Even Brandeis and Ginsburg had blind spots. My fantasy is that #Sotomayor exposes the corruption and rattles the windows on her way out.
It is time one of the liberal justices expose what's going on behind #SCOTUS doors.
I get the idea of protecting the institution and ability to deliberate in private. But the institution has fallen to the extremists (as proven w the immunity and CO ballot decisions) and the liberal are excluded from key deliberations (again, the immunity one). So, what are they protecting?
