@GottaLaff they reached a deal with a renamed US Digital Service which has no power to cut anything. (I just say this to remind everyone. Of course they're criminals and won't abide by any law because they are crimin' criminals doin' crimes.)

@GottaLaff Maybe I'm nuts, but it feels like a faster, easier solution to dealing with a shortfall at USPS would be to... Hold on a sec....tax the 20 wealthiest Americans at half-a-billion-a-year, which wouldn't actually dent their fortunes or their income.
One of them would be Jeff Bezos, whom, it should be noted, is paying USPS to work Sundays now delivering Amazon packages. Sounds to me like if they have an $8 billion revenue shortfall, he's underpaying them.

Scary times! Far worse than I even imagined so quickly. Greg Olear said that if Trump was elected, we would not recognize this country by the Fourth of July 2025. He now says he thinks the timeline is speeded up.

@GottaLaff They are after the $$$ that the postal service has to set aside for the retirement for each employee when they are hired. This was originally implemented by Republicans to make the USPS less able to compete with private delivery companies which donate money to them.
@gjholmes @GottaLaff Not only after the pension fund, sell the real estate the PO’s are at to their rich friends so they can lease them back to PO at an exorbitant rates, raid the health plan and eliminate the workers right to bargain. It’s always the $$$$

More bullshit from Louis DeJoy, Trump, and Musk. Ruthlessly cutting USPS staff, resources, and services has been his life's work since he became Postmaster General.
This false "deal" is papering over Elmo the Dick's assault on a govt service the right has wanted to privatize for decades. Its resources are valuable, its union is large and strong, it helps a vast number of women and people of color enter the middle class, and visibly works for the public good.
@GottaLaff Was just discussing this over on another platform. It's been taking 2-3 days for parcels to get 50 miles from origin post office to initial processing center. Then if they're coming through Indianapolis, they vanish there for days. I don't know about other regional centers. I just got today a parcel that was mailed from south Georgia a week ago Monday (11 days ago). Others in my network also having new/worsening problems.
