“ Fresh data from Léger suggests the federal race has tightened dramatically. #Poilievre’s once-massive Conservative lead has evaporated, and the Liberals under #MarkCarney are surging across the country—especially in Quebec.
We don't know whether Mark Carney’s momentum will last, but early numbers appear favourable to the Liberals.“ #Canada
@GottaLaff that seems good - do you think it is partially trump effect? meaning y'all are smarter than we are.
@aliza It’s one report.I don’t trust anything yet, but it’s a good trend if true.
@GottaLaff @aliza
I looked him up because I don't know anything about him.
I found this very interesting.

Ekos had released a poll yesterday showing Liberal support at 48% IIRC with the CPC down and the NDP collapsing to something like 8%. Frank Graves pulled the poll because his gut feeling was it was too much of an outlier.
That may be, but Ekos polls tend to be ahead of the curve, so who knows?
@Sir_Osis_of_Liver I have no idea. I’m just posting his stuff hoping that the trend is in the right direction
I think it's a legit swing. PP has spent most of the last few years identifying with right-wing populists and going along with Trump. At this point, that's turned toxic.
With Trudeau gone, and Carney driving the bus, more moderate conservatives are taking a second look at the Liberals. Carney has a lot of solid connections with Bay St (Canada's Wall St.). He understands and gets along with them. He is one of them. PP has never hidden his distain for those he considers "Bay St Elites".
The big question for me is how Carney does in debates, especially when dealing with the attack-dog and gish-galop style that PP always resorts to.
@Sir_Osis_of_Liver I’m learning. Thanks for that.
“PP has never hidden his distain for those he considers ‘Bay St Elites’. “
Except when he holds fundraisers with them.
“The contrast between the prickly, public Poilievre, who took pleasure in bashing CEOs, and the private politician glad-handing his way into finance circles struck James and me as a story worth telling.”
#PierrePoLIEvre #Hypocracy #ConservativeLies
#NeverVoteConservative
Maybe he's put in an effort to smooze Bay Street more recently. David Frum relayed a few anecdotes of PP meeting with or giving talks to business associations that didn't go as well.
It’s likely that Bay Street has come to the realisation — like many more Canadians — that with Carney replacing Trudeau, Poilievre is definitely the poorer choice when it comes to governing Canada.
@GottaLaff #PP is drowning in his own slick slogans, and slanderous attacks. He has absolutely no substance, just a lot of arrogance and distain for combined with his insatiable lust for power and narcissistic love of self.
@CanadianCrone And yet he could get in, as Trump did, with everyone knowing what he is. I hope he fails miserably and that Canada is smarter than the US was
@GottaLaff If he were to get in, we would truly be lost! #NeverConservative #ElbowsUp #MapleMAGA
@CanadianCrone I know. I'm very nervous.
@GottaLaff All sane people are nervous. But I believe #PP has sunk himself. #ChairmanHarper may be looking to #DoFo as a possible puppet replacement. #DougFord is as susceptible as #PierrePoilievre to flattery and manipulation. And both are insatiable narcissists. Right up Harper’s alley. An elexn should be called soon. We just have to make sure Canadians vote. #VoterApathy could doom us all.
@CanadianCrone @GottaLaff conservatives were winning by a large margin before Trump threatened to take over Canada. Canadians are gullible and vulnerable to lies and propaganda just like Americans are.
If Trump hadn't threatened Canada, Mr. PP (Trump junior) probably would have been elected.
@MatthewChat WILL have been. There hasn't been an election yet. We'll see. @CanadianCrone
@CanadianCrone @GottaLaff
My new favourite thing is Poilievre accusing Carney of having ‘nothing but slogans’!
@CanadianCrone @GottaLaff Sounds familiar.
@GottaLaff For Canada!
@DebR @GottaLaff
I too hope will be smarter than we are.
@GottaLaff Those numbers are really significant.
But the "we need a change of government" jackassery could sink the whole country. So many people don't bother informing themselves.
@StaceyCornelius Ugh, I know
@GottaLaff Watching with interest for the UK (two parties now aligned with Trump/Vance and various non national elections in the near future)
@GottaLaff the risk is not Carney. Or PP. It's just straight up interference.
Almost all of Canada has an escape plan - Quebec voted on it (referendum), Newfoundland is still like 1/3 or more folks who were born British, BC has Cascadia, even Northern Ontario has a succession movement. Many agitation options.
But it would be Alberta that is the biggest risk, they are money rich but economically fragile, run heavily conservative, and foreign dollars work strangely well there (truck convoy).
