finished 変な家2
the first book was, as a whole, kind of fun I guess, but this one was honestly great
the first part leaned better on the horror aspect of the premise (more unsettling than actually scary), and the second part goes full on mystery mode, with an explanation that's actually pretty fair, it feels like if you sat dawn to connect to pieces you could get to the same conclusions
it get pretty dark though, with child and sexual abuse being important parts of the plot, and ending in an overall pretty depressing note

started, and promtly finished, 変な家
it's pretty short lol you probably can finish it in a single afternoon
it was pretty fun, but the final explanation just kind of falls into the laps of the protagonists so as a mystery is a bit of a letdown
still is a quick read and amusing enough
interesting as a horror novel that is not supernatural, even if it's not really scary

and then started 変な家2
the first one was fun enough but this one is a marked improvement, it is in a way more of a series of floor-plan based vignettes, each one creepy enough but also with clearly some connection not yet apparent
both the horror and mystery aspects are better here
so far at least, still have about half the book to go, including what seems to be the explanation chapter which is over 100 pages
