There's been a lot of #ManicMiner coverage in SAM Revival, with issues 3-8 featuring a full walkthrough with anecdotes from the games development. Issue 22 features an article about the piracy of the game, along with the original plans for a #SAMCoupe sequel, 'The Lower Caverns'. (Now TLC will be featuring exclusively on the coverdisk with the forthcoming issue 27 of SAM Revival!)

🧵 TL;DR - Issue 9 of 'SAM Revival' magazine, now revamped and updated for 2025! Featuring #SAMCoupe Manic Miner on the Cover disk. (Disk image available for emulator users too). Quick ordering: samcoupe.com/quickshop.htm

Following the success of revamping issue 11 of SAM Revival for the 'Synthesized' show at the Centre for Computing History last year, it's now the turn of issue 9 from March/April 2004 to get the full colour, professional printing treatment, with updates and expansions of articles.

Originally produced as a black and white, laser printed magazine, SAM Revival 9 was the first issue to feature a cover disk of software, featuring the #SAMCoupe megagame 'Manic Miner' which expanded upon the #ZXSpectrum version with an extra 40 caverns, making 60 in total. My own game 'Money Bags' is also on the disk.

This morning I've added more products to my new "quickshop" page to make ordering in the UK easier and a lot more convenient.

I'll get more added shortly, but just now there's the recent issues of SAM Revival magazine, pre-order the next issue (27, with The Lower Caverns on disk) and my gold plated SAM PCB keyrings, which help add a few pounds to the development kitty of my SAM projects.

Interested in computer audio? The 3rd print run of the revamped edition of SAM Revival magazine issue 11 has now arrived and outstanding orders have shipped!

SAM Revival is the magazine I produce catering for the quirky, British SAM Coupe computer, with issue 11 focusing purely on sound. Originally released in 2004, last year I fully revamped the back issue in full colour and professionally printed for release at the 'Synthesized' show at the CfCH.

The issue covers the SAM Coupe's audio capabilities in great detail - software - internal soundchip (SAA1099P) - additional sound hardware such as my own 'Quazar Surround' soundcard I released back in 1995.

Included is a 19 track audio CD exploring the SAM's sound. Even if you don't own a SAM Coupe if you're interested in what this 8-bitter can do it's well worth a listen!

May 1990 - MGT launches a competition with first place of £15,000 for the best SAM Coupe game by the end of the year. The following month MGT goes bust.

What did you hope to see games wise on the SAM Coupe? My last BIG game was Stratosphere in 1997. Perhaps after my next round of hardware releases I should consider another game. 🤔

SAM Revival issue 18 features some source code in the magazine for the #SAMCoupe to copy the two layer scrolling effect used in the #Amiga demo 'Hit Fido'. The cover disk with this issue features emulators for the Orao, Galaksija and Apple 1 machines, proving the SAM can emulate more than just the #ZXSpectrum! There's also two games - Defender and Captain Comic, plus the executable of the 'Fido' demo code too.

First launched back in 2007, the Trinity Ethernet Interface quickly became a quintessential expansion for the SAM Coupe. Offering Ethernet connectivity and mass storage using SD & SDHC cards up to 64GB it gives the SAM a native storage solution to escape from floppy disks!

Some of the original plans and wishful thinking for the SAM Coupe, from an unveiling article in New Computer Express a year before it launched - the April'89 launch date came and went, with it finally shipping in December'89.

Some specifications were expanded in the following year due to changing the size and manufacturer of the custom ASIC chip, e.g. more colours.
