coming into an "empty" #network and having to choose yourself can be a turn off.

I uninstalled Instagram back in January or February, hoping to make it harder for me to use it mindlessly.
It has definitely worked.
On Thursday however, I re-installed because I was doing some co-organising of a demo this weekend and wanted to accept collabs on posts, make stories etc.
These few days I have been on Instagram for 2 hours+ each day.
Not only for activism. Mostly just watching random videos, without deciding to do so.

Since almost every kind of culture experience in Denmark is currently dependant on Facebook and Instagram to reach an audience, makes it almost impossible to leave. This is why we would like to start the conversation, build a network, and hopefully work together on a shared plan to leave Meta.

So for the most part, my foray into #Friendica seems to be going well. There are two questions I have though.
First, is it not possible for people who aren't on Friendica, or even #Mastodon, to follow a Friendica profile even if they're not on the Fediverse?
Second, are there any #iOS fedi apps that actually work with Friendica? I tried to set #Metatext up with it, but I keep getting "The operation couldn't be completed." Is that a problem with Metatext or the server I'm on?

wow... I do have a lot of extra time now that I no longer have my facebook and instagram accounts.
I do still miss the connections but overall I feel good at having left.
