Finally received my #clockworkpi #uconsole after waiting way too many months!
First step, assembling it!
It is a widely known fact that despite loving #startrek I am not a huge #voyager fan; specfically I find #neelix very very annoying and unlikable.
Due to a mixup, a techno toy that I bought myself for my birthday (a #clockworkpi #PicoCalc ) ended up getting shipped to my parents in the US. My friend agreed to bring it over with him on a trip to the UK. I finally got it yesterday and excitedly unboxed it only to find my "friend" had filled it with pictures of neelix! He got me so bad.
Very nice new gadget, the #PicoCalc by #ClockworkPi! Got mine a few days ago and am currently learning a lot about how it works. Documentation is a bit sparse, currently. You have to study many forum posts on forum.clockworkpi.com, there's currently no "gettings started" guide. – A bit disappointing: No Python (neither Micro-, nor Circuit-) out of the box. But folks (not ClockworkPi) are working on it. – If you're into Forth: it's already there. #RaspberryPi #Pico #Pico2 #MMBasic
I was looking at BOOX for an e-paper-based laptop-like device, but then I learned that they withhold Linux kernel source code modifications in violation of the GPL, which turned me off from their brand.
Thinking about getting a #PineTab or #PineNote as a daily carry device, or possibly a #ClockWorkPi #uConsole as a handheld.
I had canceled all of my hardware purchase plans in light of the stupid #tariffs, but those now appear to be going away, hopefully, at least in the short term.
I'm intrigued! #ClockWorkPi's shipping is legendarily slow, but it seems you got yours kinda quickly.
How's the keyboard experience? Mushy? Clicky? Too small for it to matter either way?
The page lists some kind of #UNIX that can run on it, but there's no details on the page. Any idea what kind of OS it can run? I'm curious how any Unix could run on a MCU like the #Pico
Today is a day for some hardware tinkering. #ClockworkPi #DevTerm #PicoCalc #Linux

how'd I miss hearing about this?
Assembled my PicoCalc today. It was really well packaged with nice instructions. The device itself feels really well constructed and has a few features you might not expect like speakers, headphone jack, volume knob, backlit keyboard, and inbuilt charger for the 18650s. Next step is finding out what the little BASIC shell is capable of.
I finally received a PicoCalc from clockworkpi. It's a nice piece of kit. Is there already a software archive? It reminds me a bit of the computers in the cockpit of an airplane.
#picocalc #clockworkpi
I'M VERY EXCITED TO FINALLY HAVE THIS IN MY HANDS!
(And now I'm just waiting on the #clockworkpi #uConsole I've got both #rpicm4 #rpicm5 ready for it)

Clockwork PicoCalc is a retro handheld powered by a Raspberry Pi Pico
The PicoCalc is a new handheld with a retro design. At first glance it looks more like a graphing calculator than a modern handheld device. But it sports a QWERTY keyboard, a 4 inch display, and a mainboard designed to accommodate a Raspberry Pi Pico.
Available for $75 from the Clockwork Pi store, it’s also the latest in a line of retro-inspired, modular, and open source products from the […]

My #ClockworkPI #uConsole arrived today!
Now I just need to wait for my cm4 module and the batteries.
One week... I can wait that much
My current setup for digital community archiving projects:
open hardware (#raspberrypi) as interfaces. small screens to avoid sitting *behind* laptop screens (pi 400, #adafruit cyberdeck hat, #clockworkpi #devterm).
portable #scanography for creative tracing and mapping.
graph writing in #obsidian, with self-hosted livesync and other plugins (dataview, graph link types, juggl). can be combined with social media webarchiving.
this all is building on prototyping and experimentation in the cooarchi.net art-doc-archive.net #urbandermatology and #opferschicht projects, and recently in the @MuseumfZK
