#ReliefWednesday: A stunning Hadrianic red marble relief from the Ludovisi Collection, now in the Palazzo #Altemps Rome. This 2nd century CE masterpiece shows a Maenad - a follower of Dionysus - adorned with grape leaves and vines. Originally part of a Roman fountain, the mask's eyes and mouth channeled water in an ancient bath complex.

Meleager of Scopas, a hero of Greek mythology, was the son of Oeneus, King of Calydon. He became famous for his role in the hunt for the Calydonian Boar, a monstrous creature sent by Artemis. His fate was tragic, as his life was tied to a log that his mother eventually burned, leading to his death.

This is a marble sculpture of a girl playing #Astragaloi - . It is dated to the mid-2nd c AD and it was found in Rome on the Eastern slope of the Caelian hill. I is now in the Altes Museum, Berlin ALT text for more details.

Statue du dieu Sylvanus en marbre blanc (époque impériale). Elle a été retrouvée en 1939 durant des fouilles effectuées à Rome (Viale Africa, maintenant Viale Aventino).
