Simple things bring us pleasure. Our old soap dispenser pump died, and we couldn't find another spring, but then we found a soap dispenser washed up from floods last year, we've cleaned and repurposed it, got a free soap dispenser and took one more bit of plastic out of the environment! Win win. #reuse #refill

Fedi friends - I bring you a request.

For years I have been using this plotter to draw my neon patterns. I grew tired of the waste of sharpies so I switched to refillable paint markers. I REALLY like these Molotow refillable ink markers, with one catch- after a few months their felt tips wear out.

You would think these would be easy to get- and they are- in Europe they seem to be in the art supply stores. Not here in the US though- I have been asking around the art supply stores and no one seems to have them, with managers complaining that Molotow is difficult to work with. Even online they don't have them! They are little white felt cylinders.

So, anyone in Europe wanna visit their local arts an crafts store to get me a dozen or so of these lil 2mm round felt marker tips? I am happy to pay for them and the shipping to NYC.

The alternative is buying an entire new marker every time the felt tip wears out.

Time to refuel.

After 20 litres, the fuel in the diesel tank rose 3½ inches. A home-made dipstick went in 27 inches (see photo). The mathematics suggested that, in theory, the tank should hold 154 litres.

Reality suggested otherwise. The shape of the tank is unknown.

At the start, the fuel level was low but not empty. After adding 200 litres, there was space for about 20 litres more.

Zero Waste Bulk Foods

Zero Waste Bulk Foods (ZWBF) is a nationwide delivery service for natural, organic, plant-based food delivered in reusable packaging.

It was set up to demonstrate that reusable packaging is a solution to the single use crisis we find ourselves in. They make refill accessible to everyone, not just those fortunate enough to have a zero waste/refill shop close by.

They source as close to home as possible, and also work with farmers and growers around the world in search of the best, natural and organic food. All of their suppliers are individuals and organisations who share their ethics and values, conscious sustainability for both people and planet.

ZWBF take responsibility for their packaging very seriously and supply your food in reusable bags that are simple to return.

The company minimises its delivery emissions using an electric fleet within the M25, whilst serving the whole of the UK.

actionnetwork.orgUrge Coca-Cola to Bring Back Refill The Coca-Cola Company is the largest consumer-facing global seller of plastics, producing 134 billion – almost one quarter (23%) – of the world’s PET plastic bottles. Its “Every Bottle Back” pledge stands in stark contrast to the company’s #1 ranking for five years running in #BreakFreeFromPlastic’s brand audits of plastic pollution. In fact, Coca-Cola itself was an early leader in refillables. During the company’s early years, it pioneered a waste-free system for fountain drinks and created a successful deposit return system that ensured an impressive 96% of its glass bottles were reused. But between the 1950s and 1970s, the company gutted its own refillable infrastructure in the US, opting for single-use containers that externalized the cost of its new packaging waste onto the public and ratepayers. Story of Stuff Project’s new report reveals that Coke knew at the start of the 1970s that switching to single-use containers would be worse for the environment but doubled down regardless. Then the company set about battling federal and state legislative efforts to hold the beverage industry accountable for the lifecycle costs of its packaging through bottle bills and bans on single-use containers. In 2022, Coca-Cola announced its intent to sell 25% of its beverages globally in refillable containers. But there’s a glaring hole in its flagship market, the US, where the company has virtually no refillables in circulation apart from one small pilot project in Texas. We’re calling on Coca-Cola and its bottlers to change the course of history and lead the beverage industry once again by bringing back refillable bottles and supporting state-mandated refill quotas.

Wasser ischs wichttigschde, weil #VivaConAgua!
