Watertown Polar Plunge Postponed Due to Unsafe Ice Conditions
Watertown Polar Plunge Postponed Due to Unsafe Ice Conditions
Just completed the second #PolarPlunge of the month in running water around 8 °C and exterior temperature around 2 °C.
The worse part was getting the toes to thaw up after the effect which took a good 10 min of high knees.
Fedizens! If you find a wounded polar vortex in your garden and the temperature is rising. Please offer your freezer as a temporary shelter and release them after dark when the frost returns.
Only feed them water ice, ice cream hurts their tummies
Polar vortexes are not pets!
Visiting the Kids in #nyc to start the #newyear. Lea and I took a #polarplunge because we don’t get to jump in the ocean all that often in #montana.
preparing for jumping in the ocean tomorrow for the #newyears #polarplunge !!

Pure joy of a simple life. Love hearing the little kid’s laughter during this.

Our friend posted the pictures he took from the event so here's more proof we're crazy. I'm the one with the leg tattoos and white cap.

My Triathlon club and the sailing club has an annual new years polar plunge at the local lake. 47 degree water which is much warmer than usual! 36 degrees outside
I'll share more pictures when I receive them from friends.
Fort Wainwright soldiers take polar plunge into frigid lake
"Temperatures hovered near 5 below zero as soldiers jumped into the 33-degree water. Soldiers then pulled themselves out of the hole and ran to a heated tent."

This whale I met in Antarctica said “Come on in! The water’s great!”

Carlo spent three weeks on an adventure tour of Scandinavia. Highlights include camping out, the Northern Lights, a Polar Plunge, and more!
Donations are still open here:

I'll be collecting contributions until the end of the month.
My 2023 Polar Plunge in support of Chicago Special Olympics.
Donations are still open, and I'll be drawing a winner from the donors at the end of the month. Winner will receive the latest two installments of "Weird Fiction Quarterly". (See the link in the replies below.)
Thanks to everyone who have contributed, I WILL be taking a dunk in the Lake this Sunday. Planning on bringing my GoPro to document the experience.
If you'd like to support the Special Olympics (and get entered into a drawing for the FIRST TWO volumes of "Weird Fiction Quarterly"), click the link and make a donation. (No donation too small!)
Only a few more days until I jump in a hole in a frozen lake. Anyone willing to sponsor my insanity is very much appreciated! I'm still a ways for my goal and I need your help! #polarplunge #specialolympicsmn https://reg.plungemn.org/participant/kendallnelson
Since I'm also proud that I submitted my second short story to Russell Smeaton's "Weird Fiction Quarterly" this weekend, I'll also select at random one contributor to the Polar Plunge and send that supporter BOTH a copy of the inaugural "Winter" edition, and the forthcoming "Spring" edition once that hits the press.
Support a great cause and win some of the best new weird fiction all at once!
"Let me win, but if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt."
If you'd like to support the Special Olympics, I'll include a link in the comments for next month's Polar Plunge, where I'll be jumping into a VERY cold Lake Michigan to raise funds for this worthy cause.
