I saw #ArthurConanDoyle's #Christmas #SherlockHolmes story, The Blue Carbuncle, twice last night: the 1968 BBC production with #PeterCushing as Holmes and the 1984 Granada version with #JeremyBrett .
Weirdly, Frank Middlemass was in both, as different characters.
Interesting to compare the choices made by the dramatists: both gave us unpleasant Countesses of Morcar, and cutaways to the sufferings of the wrongly arrested James Horner (a suicide attempt in '68, a tearful wife in '84) [continued]
