@GottaLaff Wtf.. are they gonna demolish the SEC also?

@stux Yes. They want to demolish everything, have Trump rule, not govern, destroy democracy and govt as we know it

@GottaLaff I am so mad and frustrated and i know that's exactly what they want so we rise up and they can enter total control...

What can we do?

@mark @GottaLaff Win what?

If this is 5 weeks.. imagine 4 years.. there's nothing left to save

@stux @GottaLaff Sure. If the people opposing him don't win.

@stux @mark @GottaLaff Is it too much to ask for 5-10 Republicans in the House and Senate to at least go through the motions of trying to resist?

Are they THAT afraid of their constituents or Trump's vengeance?

@rhempel Yes. And Trump's J6 thugs threatening their lives. @stux @mark

@GottaLaff @stux @mark Not to be that guy, but if a regular individual was to threaten a House or Senate member, what would be the outcome?

If lawmakers fear for their personal and family safety, the game is already lost.

This is stating the obvious, of course - nothing new or original here.

Is it enough for elected officials to say "We stand with ..." ? Don't they have an obligation to actually stand up _for_ their constituents?

Or are they waiting for their constituents to stand up?

@rhempel They've been ducking their constituents. @stux @mark

@rhempel @stux @mark @GottaLaff

Poisoned and paralysed by the same Citizens United ruling that they thought would grant them power with unlimited funding from rich people and corporations.
They created and nurtured the Elon Musk dragon that now eats them.
The irony.

@per_sonne @stux @mark @GottaLaff Is it just me, or when I read the name of a bill or ruling does everyone just assume the outcome (intended or not) is the opposite of the name of the bill.

@rhempel @stux @mark @GottaLaff

Why, yes; newspeak works like that.
Most right-wing, far-right and rich-people-who-own-yachts political parties in Europe are called "Popular Party". Which is laughable, but there it is.
Vance complains about Europe's "attacks on freedom of speech", when he really means "conservatives should be the ones exercising censorship" and "we should be allowed to be racists and bigoted at will without consequences". Slavery is freedom; war is peace; empathy is a sin.

@stux @mark @GottaLaff Good Lord, has it only been 5 weeks?

@stux @GottaLaff Americans must turn out for 2026 elections in droves. We must vote for the person that will beat the republicans, we cannot indulge in protest votes. With the amount of money GOP has access to now we may not get where we need to be, but our numbers may wake up a few incumbents.

Europe can continue to stand up to trump, the meeting March 2 showed Ukraine is not alone, and trump needs constant reminders of that.

Slow trump and his minions down any way you can.

@ncw413 Assuming we can have actual elections. Trump is about to control the USPS. He has access to our private data. Those 2 things can doom fair voting. @stux

@GottaLaff @stux I doubt it will be fair but hoping large number in 2026 will scare the GOP a bit, helping the 2028 elections. Why yes, I will grasp at any straw right now.😳

@ncw413 @stux Trump's thugs will be tampering with data, and they will prevent mail in voting.

It will not be fair.

And counting votes? That won't be fair either.

And certification? That won't happen.

@GottaLaff @stux They have access to so much money they may not need to tamper voting.

@ncw413 @GottaLaff @stux I suggest we grasp a handful of monkey wrenches and get to work.

@stux @GottaLaff
We rise up anyway. Threats of crackdowns and infiltrators are not new issues. We keep it legal and face whatever TF they think they are going to do. If they were smarter people, they would have gone slowly enough to keep MAGA on board. They are not smart people, so they are blowing it up and the entire country is going to be against them very soon.

@stux All we can do is keep fighting, resisting, protesting, calling members of Congress, run for every office imaginable, donate, anything and everything we can do to expose and beat them down

@GottaLaff Let's focus on that!

It just feels so powerless but i guess that's the goal

@stux It has to be. Keep fighting. The world, not just Americans.

@GottaLaff @stux

The import of European leaders taking tangible steps to ramp up production of arms, ammo, and other military materials cannot be understated.

It will help immeasurably for European voters to loudly back this effort.

@GottaLaff
He's a European who just put the Ukrainian flag on the background. Unfortunately, that's all what the Internet warriors are ready to do right now: userpicks and tweets.

@stux

Do not discount the power of widespread, loud and angry constituent voices.
The primary reason Republicans caved to The Criminal so far is his control of base GOP voters and the threat of a Trump sponsored, Musk funded primary challenge. There is also the threat of violence from the cult, but for most, certainly those with the financial resources to hire security, that's secondary.
When the prospect of general election loss eclipses a primary challenge, things will change.

@stux @GottaLaff note the statement near the end “the affected SEC staff will be placed on full-time telework.” So trusk can fire them for not being in the office everyday?

@stux @GottaLaff
They are definitely going to destroy the SEC. A good heuristic is that if Trump didn't build it or can't take credit for it, he will gratuitously destroy it. Like violence, it excites him. From 1980:

"Trump himself ensured that the workers were told to remove the bronze latticework with blowtorches, separate the friezes from the walls with jackhammers ... and throw them down into the interior of the building where they shattered into a million pieces.

@stux @GottaLaff
I'd think they'd demolish SEC second, right after DOJ.
