Currently there's a massive spam wave going on on many Lemmy instances without captcha and email requirement..
Yesterday I did a quick count and came over few hundred thousand spam accounts in the past few days
Already tried to contact various admins but little to no response
The accounts are all idle still but who knows what the future holds..

(If you run a Lemmy instance make sure to enable captcha, email confirm and edit the register rate limit per x seconds!)
Only 37,762 active monthly users out of 899,273 total now..
Also the amount of total Lemmy users is now greater than the actual Lemmy total posts..
@stux Mastodon was ready when its moment came. There were some issues with wider adoption, sure, but the tech was sound. Not sure we can say the same about Lemmy/Kbin…
