It's been a few decades since I lived in Cambridge, Mass., and it's way more upscale. But I see some of the old rules still apply: lock your bike wheels, not just your bike frame. #theft #Massachusetts #bicycle
@stshank judging by the chain, that bike was outside for many, many nights. When they got mine in 2001 they used liquid nitrogen and took the whole thing.
@mattgriffin Yep, commuter bikes in Cambridge lead a difficult existence. This spot is sheltered from the rain, but not from economics.
@stshank I wonder why they left the saddle. not worth anything?
@mattgriffin and the bell!
I imagine the thief was just trying to move fast and perhaps had zero tools.
@stshank Funny story: My daughter had her bike wheels stolen in Madison, WI. Two days later, she found a set discarded on a bike rack a few blocks away that she was sure were hers. So she took them and they probably were.
@stshank Yeah, that goes doubly so if your wheels HAVE quick release fasteners. I don't care where you live, you are literally asking someone to take the wheels otherwise.
