The UK is considering developing long-range missiles to counter Putin's nuclear threats, collaborating with Germany on missiles with a range of approximately 3200 km. These missiles could replace the American Tomahawk missiles to be deployed soon.
@noelreports Ballistic missiles? Or cruise missiles?
@martinvermeer @noelreports, my assumption would be cruise missiles.
@El_Indifferente @noelreports That's what it looks like, and also the range suggests it. But ballistic missiles even with a shorter range (300-500 km) are more needed and harder to intercept, but also harder to build.
@martinvermeer @noelreports no clue, if SRBM are more needed but Germany has no experience in these, I think. Cruise missiles, like the Taurus are sonething where experience is at hand. Low hanging fruits first, I assume.
@El_Indifferente @noelreports Yes. I was more thinking about what Ukraine needs to hit those airfields just out of their current reach. It would be prudent also for Germany to prepare for that.
@martinvermeer @noelreports you have a point, Ukraine does need these and even more the acceptance by our politicians to strike into the rear area of the front.
Many people incl politicians fear #ruzzia because of their nuclear arsenal, but honestly I would call Putin's bluff. Someone distancing himself by a table as long as an Australien Roadtrain during the pandemic does not have the guts to do it. As very often in this field, it's down to that we have to face down the bullies.
