New podcast episode: "Oops! The Winston W. Royce Story"
In 1970, Royce's described the waterfall process for software development as “simplistic." It “invites failure." His paper was about fixing its inadequacies.
What people took away from it was "Hey, we should do waterfall!"
What's up with *that*? I blame our brains and how they use metaphor and interpret node-and-arrow diagrams.
I end with practical suggestions for avoiding Royce's fate.
