So I was thinking..

You got those people with their NFT's that are actually just images...

I could, or i did make a "showroom" where i can put up "stolen" NFTs :flan_laugh:

I simply made a screenshot from some random NFT and displayed it

Kevin Karhan :verified:

@stux technically it's not "theft" since you didn't take an oblect away from their possession.

It's merely use of works that at best are copyrighted withoit a license.

but claiming "copying is theft" is just bs to crack down on filesharing...

@kkarhan If a creative work doesn't have a license, it's proprietary and it may not be legally distributed without a license from the copyright holder.

Although, "NFT"s are publicly available, meaning that looking at the image or you saving a copy for later viewing has been authorized.

@Suiseiseki @stux yes and no.

If those actually are copyrightable works that were done by a human being, then yes.

But not if those are just some output from i.e. Stable Diffusion, because only humans can have Authorship and thus Copyright.

OFC...

Needless to say are literally pirating shit to the point that most people I know would consider them fair game to troll into ragequitting, since only a few actually transfer copyrights or licensing to said works.
