@kkarhan @bookstodon yeah! I definitely consider kindle problematic. I think when I replace my lost kindle I might go for a different brand like Onyx. They make an android-based reader that can sync books using next loud and my Kindle books if i download the Kindle app.
@evanpeterjones @kkarhan @bookstodon are there any ebook readers on the market that have the nice matte surface and e-ink like Nook and Kindle paperwhite? The only thing that keeps me with my Nook Glowlight is how power efficient it is, and that I don’t have to stare at an LCD screen. That kills my poor eyes. The glowlight feels more like a flashlight on paper than a backlit screen.
@la_marteau @evanpeterjones @bookstodon that's because the #Glowlight is in fact an #electrolumiescent layer likely on top of the #eInk screen layers itself.
Thus it mimics light shining onto paper very well, since it's not a CCFL or rather LEDs shining from the side onto it.
@la_marteau @evanpeterjones @bookstodon it's the same material used for self-lighting plastic flexible sticks aka. "EL - wire".
Those can be often times driven with batteries or USB power for hours if not days..
@bookstodon @evanpeterjones @kkarhan oh cool! Well it was a brilliant idea for an e-book reader!
@kkarhan @la_marteau @evanpeterjones @bookstodon now o have a sudden urge to dig through my doom boxes in search of my EL wire stash.
