Trump wants to have his cake and eat it too (a crazy expression, eh?)—

Bully the world with the supposed goal of bringing manufacturing to the so the country eventually becomes a net exporter…

AND keep the dollar strong as the world’s reserve currency.

But that is not how the world economy works, and Trump’s tariff actions could jeopardize both of his objectives.

Trump can’t change the to a net exporter w/o sacrificing the dollar’s hegemony (which he has already threatened other countries about).

So the thought that he is TRULY enacting world tariff chaos to bring manufacturing back so the US eventually becomes a net exporter (vs. importer) seems far-fetched.

At its core, I think this is a huge power play on Trump’s part. And then he’ll make “deals” w/ world leaders and look like the hero 🙄

Honestly… people think there is some big plan…

I think there is not. Trump’s team flew by the seat of their pants, working up until the last minute to make up Trump’s tariff plan right before he made the pre-planned announcement on April 5.

And to think there is NO WAY anyone could be so short-sighted and shallow when it comes to world trade— well, did you see the math they used to justify the ? I mean, that speaks VOLUMES as to how simplistic they are!

And now it’s a power play.

Trump doesn’t like losing, so he will keep this up as long as he needs to, if permitted to do so.
