This is a cafe sketch from yesterday at the local coffee place. Learning to break the laws of perspective as I have in the last 6 months has helped. #urbansketching
@bythehandofbob Looks like a fish eye lens (almost) !
@Dianora I'm definitely aware of distortion like I never was before. And no, I do not have recent head injury that I am aware of.
@bythehandofbob Oh I DO like this so much. The wonky perspective gives such a sense of crowded cafeteria with so much going on around you. (As an introvert, I feel like this in crowded spaces :))
@nomdeb Yes, as an introvert too, I'm interested in the sense of being immersed in the setting.
@bythehandofbob funny how breaking those rules actually makes it more not less realistic, in that you can really feel it much more. A realistic picture looks like a picture, with this approach you are in it, you feel the busyness, the noise, the steam and chat. It's great!
@ronanmcd Thank you so much. Yes, I'm interested in the feel of being there rather than an accurate picture.
@bythehandofbob you nailed it!
@bythehandofbob How much for the sketch?
@mos_8502 Funny you should ask. It is in an accordion book, that I think is 70% done. All the sketches in it are somewhat matching and will make one composition when it is finished. I might sell all of it at that point.
@bythehandofbob Fair enough.
@mos_8502 It would be a shame to separate from the very long piece of paper it is part of.
@bythehandofbob I can't say I disagree.
@bythehandofbob what kind of pen do you use?
@arroyocc its a thin Chinese brush dipped in ink
@bythehandofbob I really like how this sketch turned out!
@EscGoat I really appreciate the appreciation.
@bythehandofbob I love it; it's actually making me a little dizzy as I look at it. I feel like you've kept the perspective in tact, it's just going through an exceptionally wide angle lens!
@soviut Haha. I guess it should come with a warning to sensitive viewers.
@bythehandofbob That's trippy! Huge fan!
@Nagaram Thank you. Trippy works for me.
@bythehandofbob It makes me think of the film 2001: A Space Odyssey.
@khleedril Oh, interesting, i think I actually understand that. Totally accidental, of course.
@bythehandofbob An image that seems more real by leaving reality behind. I feel it.
@cvwillegen Ah yes, I've heard of that artist. I sure did enjoy an Escher book when I was a child.
@bythehandofbob This is great. I've definitely been to cafes like that!
@androcat So loud it bends your mind.
