Kissinger was a mass murderer and war criminal. One of the worst in modern times.
Seen through this background this quote makes no sense at all.
Is he suggesting, for example, that Cambodia would have been bombed even more had they been a friend of the US?
Would he have dropped even more napalm on Vietnam were they allies.
Words matter.
Kissinger should rot in hell.
@Spoon @artizanne It's just a quote from the article. Nations can be allies, or partners, or confederacies, but friends? I find it difficult to see nations as friends. Too anthropomorphic.
I know it's just a quote and I didn't mean anything personal. I'm just exercised when dreadful people like Kissinger are sanitised after their death.
I also find it odd when world 'leaders' come away from discussions proclaiming personal amity.
