Perhaps that's a proper perspective on that reality.
@Remke ongeluk translates better to “un-lucky” than to “unhappiness” imho.

@Remke "Happy" also means lucky (just like "gelukkig") and "mishap" means accident (just like how ongeluk is "unluck"), so the coincidence isn't that coincidental. Part of the British national anthem goes: "Send him victorious/ Happy and glorious".
The thing that amazes me:
verkeer = "traffic"
verkeerd = "wrong"
Almost as if the past tense of "traffic" is "wrong". Which is kind of true.
