Private messages between friends and colleagues expressing concern at what is doing to scientific research (not public posts on social media) are now the grounds for expelling overseas researchers from the the US…yup, I have no intention of going to the states, not while the fascist tech bro oligarchy are in charge.

‘AFP source said that US authorities accused the researcher of “hateful and conspiratorial messages”. He was reportedly also informed of an investigation, but told that “charges were dropped” before being expelled.’

I have seen posts from many academics lately saying they won’t as a matter of principle now attend conferences in the US…this single event will ensure many more international conferences now take place outside of the US.
