They'd call us Zoomies (usafa), and during our less affectionate moments, we called them Squids. Middies sort of splits the difference.

One of the things that really chaps me is seeing the service academies degraded by things like the Nauta appointment. It's such an important time in the development of an officer, and the academies serve as the crucible for some of our highest performing members in government and business.
