He'd best not screw with my single malt Islay scotch.
That's my main fear - losing access to single malts. There are some good Japanese ones, but nothing like Islay.
Wine is a world-wide phenomenon. Both Europe and the US have top notch wineries...I don't see this part of it being more than a symbolic slap aimed at the French.

Trump is a finger paint artist. No lines, no rules, no competition over the age of six, all mess. His work means whatever he says it means, until he says something else. Donny is a destructive menace and he doesn't care. Neither does Elon.

Historically, taxing (or tariffing) our beverages has not worked out so well for those who mean to rule us.
@GottaLaff His billionaire backers like their French Champagne…. They may not be pleased. But we in Europe have loads of excellent options without any American alcoholic brands. And Europe can sell to any countries that are not-USA inclined so overall, this isn’t a problem for Europe. Biggest risk is that someone will crumble and try to negotiate with him like Doug Ford did; he’ll take a win and keep the tariffs in place anyway. It’s what this tantrum throwing monster does. He still has not learned or listened to his advisors who explain that tariffs only hurt consumers in the USA, not anyone else.

We'll screw this up, but this starts getting tantalizingly close to exposing just how out of his league he is.
