I was pregnant in the early 2000s. I think it was at 16 weeks they did the testing to check for birth defects. I came back positive for birth defects and had to get an amniocentesis and genetic counseling. This all took time to schedule and get results. Even in California it was hard to schedule an abortion at closer to 20 weeks. It was possible but not simple.
I can't imagine having to carry a baby to term that is not going to survive or is going to require extensive medical care for a family that can't afford that kind of care.
