After a trip to Paris for Bastille Day, which included a French military parade, Trump returned to the U.S. inspired to hold one himself.

Criticism of the idea came from both sides of the aisle.
At the very least, it was considered a waste of resources, as the parade will likely cost between $10 and $30 million.
