Democracy Matters :verified:

A vote for Jill Stein is a vote for Donald Trump, and Jill Stein knows this.

@DemocracyMattersALot Jill Stein is a traitor to America and so is trump. Lock them both up.

@DemocracyMattersALot Its a vote for a person that is not capable.

@DemocracyMattersALot Don't go to bed having voted for your #FantasyPresident and wake up in the morning to your #RealityPresident

@DemocracyMattersALot this just reads as anti democracy nonsense. Please at least discuss first past the post if you're going to say this so it doesn't sound like you hate democracy.

@DemocracyMattersALot I'm just surprised that over 130k people even know who this Russian stooge is, let alone cast a vote for her. And for the folks insisting that a vote for Stein is a "hammer blow to the 2 party system" and will change anything, I've got a box of fresh Trump Steaks I'd like to sell you, because you're clearly easily duped.

@DemocracyMattersALot I can't find her video now, but AOC commented once that Jill Stein is a "predatory" candidate: Stein only shows up once every four years in the presidential election but does nothing else to make a serious push of her policy or her party in any other elections at state or local level. :eyeroll:

But of course a lot of "edgy" voters will cast a vote for Stein because "both sides are bad". :blobsad:

Chappell Roan comes to mind.

Newsweek · Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez lashes out at "predatory" Jill SteinIn an Instagram story, the New York lawmaker accused Stein and the Green Party of only putting emphasis on presidential elections.

@kongakong @DemocracyMattersALot Exactly. The entire Green party in the US exists only as a spoiler. If they were serious, they'd be running for local and state seats, too. But nope. It's performative bullshit not designed to actually make progressive legislation happen, but to punish Democrats (and by extension, literally the entirety of humanity) for not being pure enough.

@textualdeviance @kongakong @DemocracyMattersALot well, #democrats should be punished when they suck.

Are they above reproach: immune to criticism or the consequences of their own policies?

Of course not.

Would I like a real #leftist party instead of whatever the Green Party is? Of course!

But the problem is the system! if this is what the system gives us to choose between: the system needs to change.

#revolution is looking nice. We need one every century.

@textualdeviance @kongakong @DemocracyMattersALot

Jill Stein isn’t running for president, she’s doing this for the MONEY!

A former candidate with excess campaign funds may choose to just keep the cash in the bank. While the balance of leftover donations cannot legally be used for “Personal Expenses”, the law is vague that it can be used “for any other lawful purpose.” And any INTEREST those funds generate is not regulated at all…I could live comfortably on 4-5% interest from say 10 million.

@textualdeviance @kongakong @DemocracyMattersALot they absolutely do though. Like them or not they do have local county units that put up candidates

@NoFlexZone @kongakong @DemocracyMattersALot I live in one of the most progressive areas in the country. I've been here since 1995. I don't think I've ever seen a Green Party candidate on a ballot, much less one actively campaigning. And since we started using blanket primaries, you'd think that would be an excellent chance for them to run someone. But nope. Nothing.

This is not a serious party. It's a scam. And it's specifically designed to be a spoiler.

nj · Harris vs. Trump spoiler’s supporter says the quiet part out loudBy Matt Arco | NJ Advance Media for NJ.com

@DemocracyMattersALot rated voting would eliminate the spoiler effect. So a vote FOR someone not established isn’t automatically a vote for the other side that you would like. Ranked choice is just fptp dressed up a bit. Rated voting is superior, by a large margin.

This doesn’t eliminate unserious candidates, or nefarious candidates. But it eliminates a lot of their power (by removing the spoiler effect).

Rated voting fixes democracy: ranked is a bandaid on a gushing wound.

@DemocracyMattersALot War is peace, freedom is slavery, ignorance is strength.

@roknrol

Jill Stein and her supporters get together to smoke cat dung.

@DemocracyMattersALot I’m not American so take it as you want but: you should have more than two choices in a healthy democracy. Yes, you need to change your electoral system so that voting third party gets more viable but please don’t shame people who do. Is Kamala better than Trump? No question. It’s not even close. Would I probably vote for her if I lived in a US swing state? Yes because the threat of Trumps fashism is real. But please don’t shame people who want more options.

@DemocracyMattersALot

I would have thought having a democratic choice other than having to decide between 2 genocidal options would be a pretty important thing for a democracy... that's if democracy matters.

@DemocracyMattersALot
I've seen the pictures of her with Putin, but a lot of people only read headlines, and for them this will sound a lot like usual "if you don't vote for genocide, you are supporting Trump", so you'll have a hard time getting through with this message.

(I've even had people tell me that supporting Harris was supporting Trump - after it was clear that Biden was going to lose).

@DemocracyMattersALot
100%
Here’s Trump personally thanking Jill Stein and Cornell West for helping him:
“Cornel West, he's one of my favorite candidates. Cornel West and I like her also, Jill Stein, I like her very much. You know why? She takes 100% from them. He takes 100%”

@DemocracyMattersALot Gary Johnson, the Libertarian candidate in 2016, received 3 times more votes than Stein did in Michigan. Dems blaming third parties whenever they lose the White House instead of generating enthusiasm for their own nominee isn't a winning strategy.
