Does Colorado love the Winter Park ski train enough to support a rail line to Steamboat?
@coloradosun I love the Winter Park rail enough to support replacing the express lanes on I-70 with train tracks all the way to Glenwood Springs, and then around the bend along route 82 to Aspen with stops in every notable town all along the way.
The only thing that will fix I-70 traffic is a train. I hate driving that dangerous road when other people have no idea how to drive through mountains, let alone through snow
I'm on the West Slope now, but I think I70 from the beginning of the foothills to Silverthorne is the scariest road I've driven. (Mostly due to other drivers and the condition of the road).
I'd rate 285 a pretty close 2nd.
@TheEffekt @coloradosun My car was totaled because I was rear-ended driving West between the Roosevelt tunnel and Silverthorne by a car going 40 mph down that hill in the middle of a blizzard. The guy got out and asked why I was going so slow on a highway. He was driving a 2WD rental car and had a Florida license
This was my first winter in Denver
Yeah I can totally see that happening. That's a steep decline and if I remember right it also has a sweeping curve farther down. If the dude hadn't rear ended you he might have slid off there and been in worse shape.
