Last night I deleted my Pixelfed account because I never used it. I really like Pixelfed but I hardly take photos, so it felt like the account was sitting around getting stagnant. I posted only two photos on Pixelfed in the eight months I had the account.
I also deleted my Storygraph account because adding books to it was starting to feel like a chore instead of something fun. I might go back to tracking books I read in a notebook.
Two accounts gone then I guess.
@noellemitchell To each their own. I've been starting to think about how with the interoperability of the Fediverse, you don't actually need to have accounts on all platforms. I've got Mastodon, Pixelfed, and Bookwrym). I've been thinking about adding Peertube and Kbin / Lemmy but I realize that with Activity Pub, I can follow Peertube video channels here and don't necessarily need to have an account. Really odd to try to get your head around how things work on the Fediverse!
@seanbala I've been thinking the same thing lately. You don't really need accounts on every single fediverse platform since they can all communicate with each other. And only so many platforms I can actively use with only 24 hours in a day. My favorite platform on the fediverse is Mastodon.
@noellemitchell Exactly! You have different platforms interacting with the same content and people. So you aren't choosing which people or content you want to follow but instead it can be through a different medium. Mastodon has some features. Pixelfed has others. Lemmy and Kbin can be followed here but there are some unique things there. So, it almost becomes how do I want the content presented rather than where can I find the content. So far, I've liked Mastodon the best.
