Booked some trips in #Scotland for May when we'll be there for a few days; we've only visited once before. Planning to explore #Edinburgh and #Inverness without any firm plans; just see what we like the look of. We were considering #Glasgow but have decided that a trip on the #FalkirkWheel and a nose around #Stirling appeals more. And then we've made sure we're on a tour to see #SkaraBrae, the Ring of Brodgar, and Skaill House on #Orkney.
@neonbubble Some great places to explore there. For a change I've been to most of them with the exception of Orkney.
I used to imagine myself living in Edinburgh or Inverness before I headed back down here.
I had friends living in both cities.
@sharongascoigne Glasgow was the only disappointment when looking at maps and seeing where things were and what we might want to do for some reason. I imagine if we were there we'd find plenty but we've seen that wheel at Falkirk and the castle at Inverness and think they fit our interests more for now. We plan on trying a different whisky (the more local the better) in each place we visit after we've done something more highbrow.
@neonbubble I have fond memories of Glasgow, but all of them are based around gigs at Barrowlands and the hospitality we were greeted with.
Highbrow followed by whisky seems like a fair balance to me.
@neonbubble Don’t miss out the west highlands or some of the spectacular islands to the west. Eriskay, Barra and Vatersay are firm favourites.
Enjoy your visit.
@drdr6262 We've got a very specific route of places to stay already mapped out so we won't have time to do those this time, but the Scottish islands will feature again in travel plans, I've no doubt at all. Thank you.
